Here are comics and graphic novels either by LGBTQ writers and artists or with LGBTQ characters and themes from the May Previews catalog. Several books stand out this month for me. There’s Gengorah Tagame’s My Brother’s Husband from Pantheon (the image up at top is from the cover); Diary of Menorah Horwitz, about “about gender, Judaism, and gel nail polish”; a new book from Jillian Tamaki; a new edition of a small set of Jeffrey Catherine Jones prints; and while Hope Nicholson’s Spectacular Sisterhood of Superheroines isn’t LGBTQ it does look exciting! And there may be subtext to mine!
As much as we try, sometimes a book, series, or creator is overlooked. Send us a message if that’s the case or to let us know about your work that doesn’t appear in Previews. Part two is over here!
Diamond order codes are included when they appear in Previews. Not all publishers provide them in solicitations. Some titles are links to Amazon in case you want to buy from them though supporting your local comics shop or book store is always good!
People’s names listed in bold are either LGBT+ or supportive. Thanks where thanks is due – Andy Mangels because this was his idea and to Mike McDermott and Steven Leitman for their suggestions and input about several series that have been added to the list!
