The 32nd Lambda Literary Award Nominees

New York, NY, March 10, 2020 – Lambda Literary, the nation’s premier LGBTQ literary organization, today announces the finalists of the 32nd Annual Lambda Literary Awards (a.k.a. the “Lammys”).

The Lammys were created over thirty years ago with the expressed purpose of recognizing the crucial role LGBTQ writers play in shaping the world. For many LGBTQ authors, the Lammys were among the first awards to recognize their work, and the list of past winners includes many names still widely celebrated, including: Dorothy Allison, Alison Bechdel, Richard Blanco, Charles M. Blow,  Justin Vivian Bond, Jennifer Finney Boylan, Alexander Chee, Susan Choi, Michael Cunningham, Roxane Gay, E. Lynn Harris, Larry Kramer, Tony Kushner, Audre Lorde,  Carmen Maria Machado, John Rechy, Edmund White, and Jacqueline Woodson, among many others. Now with twenty-four categories, the Lammys have continued to evolve as they seek to celebrate the vast range of LGBTQ literature.

“The Lammys are a testament to the LGBTQ community’s longstanding contribution to literature,” said Sue Landers, executive director of Lambda Literary. “The awards celebrate authentic LGBTQ storytelling in all of its beauty, complexity, and power.”

This year’s finalists were chosen by over 60 judges, literary professionals who spent countless hours considering a record-breaking number of submissions. Finalists and winners will be celebrated at the awards ceremony on Monday, June 8 in New York City at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Every year, over 600 guests—including writers, industry professionals, and celebrities—attend the cerem

ony. This year’s host is Saturday Night Live cast member Bowen Yang. Tickets for the Lambda Literary Awards ceremony, VIP cocktail reception, and after-party are on sale here.

The Lammys are the most prestigious award in LGBTQ publishing. Please join us in celebrating the following authors and their literary accomplishments.

Gay League extends its congratulations to all the creative people involved in making these five graphic novels.
