Steve St Eve is a one off character who appears in a short Archie story titled “Dine By Design” which features Veronica, Jughead, and Pops. Veronica has decided to throw a fashion show in the Lodge family mansion and she’s enlisted the help of fashion designer Steve St Eve. To hear Veronica talk, all the important people in Riverdale (and big cities too) will attend the show. Pops has agreed to cater the event but Veronica wants only trendy, incredibly tiny hors d’oeuvre style burgers served. Burger loving Jughead is upset with Pops and decides to take over Pops’ diner the day St Eve comes in for a tasting. Jughead proudly presents his own big, bold burgers to an impressed St Eve. Later at the event Jughead is surprised to learn that St Eve translated Jughead’s culinary ideas into over the top burger inspired fashion creations.
I first stumbled across Steve St Eve in a tumblr post at Bughead In The Comics. According to the Grand Comics Database this is the only appearance of Steve St Eve and comprises just six panels two lines of dialog. St Eve’s character seems like he’d make for a fun, minor recurring role in Veronica’s life if a writer ever retrieves him from comics limbo.
Archie’s Pal Jughead Comics #198 (cover date Jan 2010) is Steve St Eve’s only appearance. The story is reprinted in Jughead and Archie Double Digest #10 (Feb 2015).
