Chances are good that you’ve already come across news of two new DC series titled The Movement by Gail Simone and Freddie Williams II and The Green Team from Art Baltazar, Franco, and Ig Guarra, with May 1st and May 22nd debuts respectively. DC’s descriptive copy for each follows below. Why bring the news up here? The news of any new Gail Simone project is noteworthy in itself from my view point. This series may be one that’s worth an extra look, because, and here’s where speculation kicks in, it may have a gay character. On January 16th and 17th in the Gay League Facebook group Gail stopped by to chat with members and mentioned a book she’d just started writing that day and expressing enthusiasm for people to see it. Simone replied “yes” when asked by another group member if the book has a gay character in it. Caution! Gail also alluded to several new things before her affirmative reply so the gay character(s) could be in another project.
DC describes The Movement as: “We are faceless. We are limitless. We see all. And we do not forgive.Who defends the powerless against the greedy and the corrupt? Who protects the homeless and poverty-stricken from those who would prey upon them in the dark of night? When those who are sworn to protect us abuse their power, when toxic government calls down super-human lackeys to force order upon the populace…finally, there is a force, a citizen’s army, to push order back. Let those who abuse the system know this as well: We have our own super humans now. They are not afraid of your badges or Leagues. And they will not be silenced.”
And The Green Team: “Inventors! Explorers! Adventurers! Do you need money to finance an important project? Then you should set up a meeting with the Green Team!
