Hi Russell! What are you up to today?
Hey! Not much, having a lazy day….. just finished a tub of ice cream and a TV marathon…
You play Josh aka “Kid Krypton” in the movie. What’s your character like?
Josh is a fun loving kid who is trying to find his way in life and cover up his old one. You know, typical coming of age story.
You and Tyler are playing a young gay couple in the movie, and you’ve got great chemistry together. How did you two build that relationship?
Long walks in the park. Seriously, we rehearsed our lines a lot in the park. Tyler is a great guy, fun, down to earth. I don’t think it’s possible to not get along with him. We also spent three days tied together… so we had no choice but to get along. Do you know how hard it is too… well, never mind. It also helped that the characters were written very well. It was easy to bring them to life. (Have I mentioned Keith, that your last movie has won many many awards?) You’re welcome for the plug *sings* “That’s what sidekicks are for”.
What’s your favorite thing about Josh?
His out-of-this-world pedigree provides him with insurmountable energy.
What was the hardest thing about shooting this movie for you?
My night job wouldn’t give me the time off to film, so between that and filming I was doing 18 hour days.
Do you have a favorite scene?
Definitely the scene where the sidekicks get their butts handed to them in a fight with Titania, who is played by the gorgeous and talented Verona Blue.
This is the first time you’ve done stunt work. What was that like?
I’ve done some stage combat before, but never been thrown off a roof!!! It was amazing 🙂
If you and Rick could be sidekicks for any superhero (besides Malibu), who would you pick?
Sable, our single mom super heroine, played by the AMAZING Melissa Jobe! She needs our help the most. I mean c’mon! Did you see her hair and costume!? A mess. Joking! I Iove you Melissa!!!
You’ve been shooting a bunch of movies since ‘Real Heroes’. Tell us about some of them?
Thank you! Yes I have. I’ve been very fortunate since moving to LaLa Land earlier this year. Since “Real Heroes” I’ve done a horror film with details too graphic to discuss in a public forum titled “F A C E” 🙂 and the other was ironically a super heroine based drama Titled “Return of the Black Queen”, but don’t worry I play a normal boring boy with no powers! Next month I will be filming a web series playing a distraught teen seeking revenge oh his high school. That’s all I can say on that for now!
If you could play any role in the world in your next movie, what would you choose?
I want to shoot up some zombies. So, I think a young man of the cloth who must fight his faith and the walking dead… can I say walking dead or will they sue us?… A young man who shoots up the stumbling lifeless.
