Meet The Von Dingles From Stoopid Buddy Stoodios

Hello from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios!

You probably know us from Robot Chicken, or maybe Crossing Swords, Mickey and Friends holiday specials, The Simpsons couch gags, Dominion X with Steve Aoki, Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., or maybe even some of those incredible costumes they wear on The Masked Singer (yup, that’s us too!).

Now, we’re cooking up something new and exciting! And the best part?

YOU get to be a part of it!

Since it’s the Halloween season, we’ve made something spooky and special to kick things off!

But for this project, we’re stepping into comics. Or, rather, stepping BACK into comics, as that is actually where some of us started years ago (a bunch of us worked on Twisted ToyFare Theatre years ago).

In partnership with our friends at Macroverse and the incredible artist Patrick Williams, we are producing a full, 88-page graphic novel that will bring audiences into the world of The Von Dingles with all the drama, pathos, tragedy, love, poignancy, and heroism that are inherent to cute talking eggs. Along with rapid-fire action and humor, of course!

Creator, Director, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios co-owner, and Von Dingles mastermind John “Harv” Harvatine IV says it best:

“Ever since I was a kid I wondered what happened to Easter eggs that were left behind and never found. I imagined their story and adventures being told as a comic book, and even tried doing stop-motion with eggs on my camcorder (terrible idea). Now that I’m older and wiser I know the truth…they grow arms, legs, faces, and hide from humans. They also wear cute clothes, have skilled jobs, and are obsessed with making scrumptious foods with their favorite thing in the world, Von Dingle berries!

Stoopid Buddy Stoodios has graciously accepted the responsibility of sharing The Von Dingles story with YOU, going to comics!”

This is the story of Clark, who’s different from the other eggs in the Hidden Valley of the Von Dingles. For starters, he has no face or arms; he’s just a little egg with legs. And even though no one has ever left the village, Clark dreams of a bigger world out there. So when the evil Pecker Egg attacks the village with his robot army and an age-old vendetta against the Valley, Clark is the one who rises to the occasion! Along with his two best friends Brittle and Vigor, Clark sets off on the adventure of a lifetime, leaving the comforts of home behind to face Pecker at his headquarters: a super-scary robot factory sitting on a distant mountaintop.
But hey, it’s a comic, right? So let’s see some comics!

Below is a teaser to give you a sneak peek of what we are doing in this book, and all the mayhem that comes along with it!

Even years after Robot Chicken sketches air, they continue to entertain fans old and new online!

We love reading the comments on YouTube and engaging in that way. It’s SO much more rewarding than looking at Neilson ratings. And a lot less math, too.

We’ve done another direct-to-fans show called Blark and Son and a project called Dominion X with Steve Aoki. Same thing. Fans loved it and we got to listen to them and actually incorporate their ideas.

Harv wanted to cut out the middle-man: make something in our tone and give it right to our fans. So this is pure Stoopid Buddy, coming at you straight from the source!

Check out the Kickstarter campaign page now!

We’ve already started writing the main series, as well as more of the shorts that you see above.

Then, once we’ve hit our funding goals, the plan of attack will be as follows:

December 1 – Production on Episode 1 – additional visual development, concept designs, rough art layouts and on into inks and colors – begins, along with writing the remaining episodes.

December 1 through May 1, 2024 – Production on the full series. However we won’t be doing this in a black box: there will be regular updates, sketches, behind-the-scenes videos, some new shorts and a bunch of other stuff to keep everyone entertained! Best of all, you will be able to read the book as it’s being created! Thanks to our friends at Macroverse, all backers will receive free access to their awesome mobile comics app where we’ll publish bi-weekly episodes that, together, make up the full book.

May 1 through July 1 – Final lettering and printing of the graphic novel and prep for distribution of the additional items.

July 2024 – Delivery of the finished graphic novel and other fun items!
