June is Pride month but this month’s Previews celebrates “manga month.” Not to slight manga because a lot of manga is BL/ yaoi and yuri. In past years Previews marked Pride month in June which sounds great until you realize graphic novels and the like that are featured are available only for preorders, so you won’t have that attention grabbing book till August at the earliest. The same thing tends to happen around the holidays too. It’s one of the cons to Previews. DC and Marvel have the time lag figured out and the resources to have any Pride related comics ready. Enough with complaining! There are definitely some LGBTQ goodies this time around like Tillie Walden’s This Time Around (Avery Hill); Sweet, Sweet, Little Ramona (Cat Head Comics) about a trans woman trying to become a model in 1956 New York; a new Molly Ostertag graphic novel; and Cheer Up (Oni Press) features a trans girl romance.
