September brings two comics that I’m really looking forward to reading! There’s the return of the Legion and the first issue of Tina Horn’s and Michael Dowling’s SFSX that Horn describes as “[a] queer leather sex worker rebel dystopian scifi action adventure”. Like Mark Russell and Richard Pace’s Second Coming, SFSX started as a Vertigo book and ended up at other publishers after evangelicals had hissy fits. It’s easy to see why they had them when your series gets a quote like this: “SFSX immediately made it to the top of my reading pile with its poignant and alarmingly relatable conceit. The conversations this book is having are the ones we need to hear right now, and Horn explores that with depth, hilarity, urgency, joy, and a daring wit.” — Fran Tirado, Deputy Editor, Out Magazine
Oh, right! There’s also that Strikeforce comic with Wiccan and Angela. Maybe it will last longer than a year. Alpha Flight fans should not miss the one shot and don’t be surprised if there’s a last page announcement about a new followup series. Black Widow gets a mini. ScarJo does not make an appearance.
