LGBTQ Previews For September 2018 Part 1

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy… so goes the line in Gershwin’s song that Ella Fitzgerald made famous. The song popped into my head because it’s mid July and hotter than Hades and looking at Previews for September has me wishing for cooler weather. Previews has a big surprise – Gengoroh Tagame’s second and last volume of My Brother’s Husband from Pantheon! Two of Tillie Walden’s hard to find earlier works are re-issued by Avery Hill! Also, congratulations to both Tagame and Walden for winning Eisner Awards! Andy Mientus lends his talent to writing a prose Backstagers novel with illustrations by Rian Sygh. It’s from Amulet, not BOOM. Blue Delliquanti draws The ‘Stan from Dead Reckoning. So many books this time around that ordering $200 in books would be easy if the old comics budget wasn’t already strained! Go look! Maybe you’ll find something special!

Also, yes, that image up top is not part of the cover to Strangers In Paradise XXV volume 1.

Part two is here!

The “fine print”! People’s names listed in bold are either LGBT+ or supportive. Credit where credit is due – Andy Mangels because this was his idea and to Mike McDermott and Steven Leitman for their suggestions and input about several series that have been added to the list! As much as we try, sometimes a book, series, or creator is overlooked. Send us a message if that’s the case or to let us know about your work that doesn’t appear in Previews.

The beg! Please think about using our Amazon affiliate link to order any of trades or graphic novels with links in the list (or any thing from Amazon). Of course, supporting your local comic shop and book stores is important too! Diamond order codes provided for easy ordering with your comic shop!

You’ll find part two here when it’s up. It isn’t up though, okay?

Nick Bertozzi and Pierce Hargan
An original graphic novel biography of Andy Warhol, the cultural icon and Pop-art legend. Celebrated during his lifetime as much for his personality as for his paintings, Warhol (1928-1987) is the man who invented Pop Art, the notion of 15 minutes of fame, and the idea that an artist could be as illustrious as the work he creates. With a unique, focused look at Warhol’s life, this graphic novel biography offers insight into the turning point of Warhol’s career and the time leading up to the creation of the Thirteen Most Wanted Men mural for the 1964 World’s Fair, when Warhol clashed with urban planner Robert Moses and architect Philip Johnson and emerged to become one of the most significant artists of the 20th century.
