Josh is a nurse who works in a Milwaukee hospital in the nine issue series The Deviant by James Tynion and Joshua Hixon. Josh is best friends with Derek whose boyfriend Michael is caught up in a series of murders that bear similarities to the Santa Claus murders that shocked Milwaukee residents in 1973.

When he isn’t working long nursing shifts Josh prefers to be a homebody. His favorite way to spend his free time is putting on his favorite slippers and settling into to watch his shows which includes cartoons as Derek lovingly points out. Josh embodies the qualities of the type of friend everyone should have in their life. He will ask the tough questions that can be uncomfortable to talk about but his manner and voice convey love and empathy instead of harsh criticism. If you need a friend to come out at night in a nasty snow storm while a killer may or may not be on the loose and meet you in an empty gay bar to sort through some stuff to help you save your relationship, then Josh is your guy. As loving and loveable as Josh is he appears to be the perennially single man who everyone else tends to think of as just being friends with.
