What I loved about the former DC Universe was its deep sense of history, legacy and fun — all elements that seemed to be lacking in the new52 revamp. (They at least seem to be open to “fun” for some future titles, though none seem appealing at the moment).
I know there’s never going to be anything else that fully replaces the old DC for me in the world of comics, but I’d still love to give some other comics a shot. There’s Marvel, sure, but it’s always felt like how the new52 feels to me now — a mess of a universe with some great ideas/characters here and there, but it’s hard for me to separate the good stuff from the universe as a whole.
So I’m looking for suggestions of any comics with “grand” ideas, or fully-realized worlds — and mostly self-contained (or at least limited to just a few titles). The only things I occasionally read now are some indie comics here and there… But I miss a really good, heroic adventure saga.
(And speaking of “SAGA” — I know it’s a title I need to read…)
I wanna hear what former DC fans are reading now!
