Erika Moen has a new webcomic that I’ve meant to mention before now. Johanna Draper Carlson’s Comics Worth Reading is where I learned about the obviously NSFW comic titled Oh Joy Sex Toy and the subject matter is just what you think it is. Each week Moen, sometimes with the help of her husband Matthew or a guest contributer, reviews a new sex toy. Moen also gives herself the option of exploring more than sex toys by discussing her thoughts about or anything else that has to do with sex, sexuality, bodies, and the sex industry. Moen’s cartoony drawing style lends a sense of playfulness and her characters are thoughtful drawn with a variety of body types. As you can imagine from my description there isn’t any slut shaming taking place. There’s a welcome, strong emphasis on a female point of view though Matthew reviews a toy that any man of any orientation could enjoy. She has promised comics from a male view point though it remains to be seen if this means gay/ bi men or not. In any case, I look forward to future updates.
