The history and of the comic book covergirl is covered in-depth, starting with its earliest Detective Comics beginnings, evolving out of the pulp/dime store adventure novels and magazines. The classic comic covergirl must entice the reader, of course, but it must also hint at her character and the story within. They were, and are, more than enticing visual symbols, they are also mythic characters – icons of good and evil, historically reflecting the social awareness and ethical dilemmas of their age. Adam Hughes is an American comic book artist and illustrator and is best known to comic book readers for his rendering pinup-style female characters. His work has been on the covers of titles such as Wonder Woman and Catwoman
