All Ages Programming At Flame Con

Flame Con, New York’s first LGBT-centric comic con, will be a safe space for attendees of all backgrounds and all ages.  The convention, which takes place at the Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn on Saturday, June 13, 2015, is open to anyone and everyone, and has a wide range of programming designed with that in mind!

Creating a queer-positive space for LGBT youth has been a priority for Geeks OUT, since forming in 2010 with the goal of representing LGBT geeks at New York Comic Con. Many of Flame Con’s special guests will be speaking on forums to address topics for all ages such as how to find queer-positive comics for young & old fans alike.  Popular YA authors including David Leviathan, award winning author of Boy Meets Boy and Nick And Norah’s Infinite Playlist, will talk about how they approach writing LGBT characters in YA novels with depth and sensitivity.  In an event specifically for younger attendees, the Queer Youth Tech Camp is hosting a teen meet-up, to give our younger attendees a chance to geek out and talk amongst themselves about comics, games, sci-fi, and art.

More information about Flame Con is available, including additional details on guests and exhibitors.  Tickets ranging from $10 to $25 are for sale at here.
